A cultural programme on ‘Bangabandhu and Liberation War’ organised by the National Book Center was held on the premises of the Department of Public Libraries marking the birth centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and National Children’s Day. State Minister for Cultural Affairs K M Khalid was present as the chief guest in the programme held recently. While speaking Khalid said there is no alternative to the library for reaching the true history of the War of Liberation to the new generation. “Writer, Publisher and intellectuals are contributing to reach the accurate history of Liberation War to the new generation,” he said. The function was also addressed, among others, by Director General of Department of Public Libraries Abubakar Siddique and Chief Editor of Ekattor Television Mozammel Babu. The Director of National Book Center Minar Mansur gave a welcome speech and Educationist Rupa Chakraborty recited from the poems at the programme. Secretary of the Cultural Affairs Ministry Badrul Arefin presided over the event.
