BD Senior Citizens Welfare Society
Bangladesh Senior Citizens Society in collaboration with Daffodil International University (DIU) holds a joint meeting both in physical and virtual of its patrons, advisors and executive committee on Tuesday at 71 Auditorium of the University. While addressing the programme, speakers stressed that the ancient family tradition and family bondage of Bangladesh are being destroyed. This situation must have to be changed. We have to bring back the old tradition of family bondage. The senior citizens must be given due dignity, priority and respect. We should call them ‘experienced’ rather than ‘elderly’. In addition, the government and various service-oriented organizations should work to improve the health care of the old citizens. The government has already taken several initiatives passing laws on maintenance of the elderly. The speakers mentioned this law as historical. The meeting was addressed, among others, by former minister AB M Golam Mostafa, DIU Chairman and Patron of the society Dr. Sabur Khan, former Principal of Bangladesh Dental College Prof Amirul Islam, Advocate Monjil Morshed, President, Human Rights and Peace for Bangladesh Dr. Md. Moinul Islam, Chairman, Department of Population Science of Dhaka University, Prof Dr. Humayun Kabir Chowdhury and Vice-Chairman of the Society, Dr. Sharif Begum. Justice Momtaj Uddin Ahmed, Chairman of All Bangladesh Senior Citizens Society presided over the event.
