A discussion on ‘Life and ideologies of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’ organized by Bangabandhu Smriti Foundation (BSF) was held recently at the National Press Club auditorium in the city. Health and Family Welfare Minister Mohammad Nasim was present as the chief guest.While speaking Nasim said action would be taken against those who made derogatory remarks against Bangabandhu and the national flag after framing laws in this regard.
BSF President Lion Md Shakhawat Hossain chaired the discussion, also addressed, among others, by Chairman of the Zoology Department of Dhaka University Prof Dr Miah Md Abdul Kuddus, Chairman of Ganatantrik Islami Oikya Jote Moulana Masudur Rahman Bikrampuri, researcher MA Aziz, Vice-President of the BSF Taiyaubur Rahman Mintu and General Secretary Principal Md Sujaul Karim Chowdhury Babul.
Mohammad Nasim, also a Presidium member of the Awami League (AL), said, ‘The contributions of Father of the Nation were true like that of the Sun and the Moon in the sky. Bangabandhu’s history could not be covered by dark clouds of falsehood like the Sun and the Moon could not be covered by clouds.’
The senior AL leader said, ‘Many sages and big politicians were born in the country but they could not ensure birth of a state like Bangladesh in the world. Bangladesh would not come into being had Bangabandhu not born in its sacred soil’.
The senior AL leader said, ‘It was a mistake of BNP not to participate in the national polls of January 5, which has been discussed in the party’s rank and file. BNP is now not the opposition party but Jatiya Party is. Begum Zia has lost her post as the leader of the opposition on the advice of some childish and merit-less persons.’
