A conference organised by Bangladesh Small and Cottage Industries Corporation (BSCIC) was held on Thursday at the Small and Cottage Industries Training Institute auditorium in the city. Industries Minister Amir Hossain Amu was present as the chief guest. While speaking Amu said chemical factories would be relocated from the capital city soon.”The government is working to relocate the chemical factories as soon as possible,” he added. Referring to the relocation of tanneries to Savar from the capital, he said this sector has the potentials to exceed the readymade garments in future. Amu said the government has taken a mega plan to establish economic zones and as part of the plan, two leather factories would be set up in Barishal soon while a BSCIC industrial zone would be establish in Sirajganj. The function was also addressed, among others, by Industries Secretary Mohammad Abdullah. BSCIC Chairman Mustak Hasan Muhammad Iftikhar presided over the event.
