Bangladesh Husking Mills Owners Assoc
The annual general meeting of Bangladesh Husking Mills Owners Association was held at the Institute of Engineers, Bangladesh (IEB) in the city on Wednesday. Food Minister Advocate Quamrul Islam was present at the programme as the chief guest. While speaking Quamrul warned that tough actions will be taken if any rice miller tries to manipulate the price of rice in the market. “If anybody tries to volatile the rice market, tough legal actions will be taken against them,” the minister said. Expressing satisfaction, the minister said now the price of rice is stable and we hope that it will remain stable in the days to come,” he added. Blasting over the attitude of rice millers during the last flood, the minister said most of the rice millers in the last year did not sell rice to the government, so procurement in the last year was not satisfactory. The function was also attended, among others, by Director General of the Department of Food Badrul Hasan, Additional Secretary Omar Faruque and Director General of the Department of Food Planning and Monitoring Unit Badrul Arefin. President of the association Abdur Rashid presided over the event.
