Prof Abdul Mannan, Chairman, University Grants Commission (UGC) of Bnagladesh yesterday expressed profound shock at the tragic death of four students of Khulna University of Engineering and Technology (KUET). The four students of Textile Engineering Department of 2013-2014 academic sessoin were killed in a gas line explosion at Bhaluka in Mymensingh. The blast took place in a building on 25 March 2018. They went Bhaluka and rented a flat for doing their internships. In a condolence message, UGC Chairman prayed for eternal peace of the departed souls and conveyed deep sympathy to the bereaved family members, says a press release.

The 10th death anniversary of Bir Protik Col Shafique Ullah, former Treasurer and Member of the Board of International University of Business Agriculture and Technology (IUBAT) was observed with due respect and solemnity at IUBAT Conference Room recently . Prof Dr Abdur Rab, Vice-Chancellor, IUBAT presided over the program. Pro Vice-Chancellor Brig Gen Dr Zahid Hossain (Retd) shared his sentiments in the programme. Only son of Col Shafique Ullah Bir Pratik and Asst Military Secretary to the honorable Prime Minister Lt Col Saif Ullah and IUBAT Registrar Prof Dr M A Jabber, Wg Com Prof M A Matin (retd), Deputy Registrar M Rabiul Islam spoke on the life and contribution of Bir Pratik Shafique Ullah. Prof. Dr. Abdur Rab highlighted the spirit of our liberation war and point out “we will have to pass through this legacy to the generation after generation to galvanize the essence of our liberation war”. Members of the IUBAT Community and grieved family, relatives, friends, colleagues, freedom fighters, class mates, students and admirers of Col Shafique Ullah Bir Protik joined the programme and prayed for the salvation of the departed soul.
