Bangladesh Tea Workers Union
The election of Bangladesh Tea Workers Union will be held on May 13 next. The decision was taken at a meeting held in the conference room of the Ministry of Labour and Employment. The meeting was informed that the election would be held in 233 polling stations under 20 upazilas of five districts. A total of 1 lakh and 10 thousand voters will cast their votes in the union election. The election schedule will be published on April 18. Deputy Secretary of the Ministry of Labour and Employment Aminul Islam told that a commission will soon be formed to supervise and hold the election in a peaceful environment.
Awami Muktijoddha Prajanma League
A discussion on current politics organised by Bangladesh Awami Muktijoddha Prajanma League was held at Dhaka Reporters’ Unity. Awami League Publicity and Publication Affairs Secretary Dr Hasan Mahmud was present as the chief guest in the programme held recently. While speaking Hasan said August 21 carnage would have been repeated in the country if BNP was in power. “If BNP was in power, the people would have fallen victims of atrocities and corruption of the party leaders,” he added. Hasan said BNP has become envious of Awami League government over the country’s achieving the eligibility for the developing country status. Because of their political vengeance, BNP leaders are now out to mislead people by giving false information, he added. The function was also addressed, among others, by President of the organisation AdvocateAsaduzzaman Durjoy, Awami League leader Balaram Podder, Dhaka City South AL member Minhaj Uddin Mintu and Prajanma League General Secretary Munshi Ebadul Islam.
