BUET Teachers’ Association
A human chain organised by Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) Teachers’ Association was formed condemning the attack on eminent writer and educationist Dr Mohammed Zafar Iqbal. Around 200 teachers of the university joined the programme on Tuesday in front of BUET Shaheed Minar protesting the attack on Iqbal who came under knife attack on Shahjalal University of Science and Technology campus on Saturday afternoon. The teachers demanded exemplary punishment to the perpetrators from the protest meeting. The function was addressed, among others, by Professor Dr Mohammad Kaykobad of Computer Science and Engineering Department and President of BUET Teachers’ Association Professor Dr A K M Masud.
Bangladesh Dental Society
The World Dentist Day was observed in the city in befitting manner with a view to raise awareness about oral care. Bangladesh Dental Society (BDS) and Unilever Bangladesh’s oral care brand Pepsodent celebrated the day on the sixth instant through various programmes in the city’s Krishibid Institute. The celebration came in continuation of a legacy set by BDS and Unilever to stress the need for oral care to build a healthy nation. The programme was kicked off with a rally. The event also featured colourful procession, film and advertisement display, views-exchange meeting and cultural function. The programme was attended, among others, by Prof. Dr. Md. Abul Kashem, President of Bangladesh Dental Society and principals of various dental colleges.
