UGC Officers’ Association
The installation ceremony of executive committee of UGC Officers’ Association was held at UGC Auditorium yesterday. Prof Abdul Mannan, Chairman, University Grants Commission of Bangladesh administrered the oath to the members of executive committee of Association as the Chief Guest. Prof Dr. Mohammad Yousuf Ali Mollah and Professor Dr. Md. Akhtar Hossain, Members, UGC were the Special Guests on the occasion. Md. Kamal Hossain, outgoing President, UGC Officers’ Association and Additional Director, UGC, presided over the meeting. It may be mentioned here that Dr. Md. Khaled, Secretary, UGC and Md. Mohibul Ahsan, Senior Assistant Director, UGC have been elected as President and General Secretary of UGC Officers’ Association respectively. The other office- bearers of the Executive Committee are Md. Omar Faruque as Vice-President, Engr. Mohammad Monir Ullah as Vice-President, Golam Dostogir as Joint-Secretary, Rabiul Islam as Sports and Cultural Secretary, Md. Morshed Ahammed as Treasurer, Md. Harun Mia as Organizing and Publicity Secretary, Mohammad Nur Islam Chowdhury, Mamun Patwary and A K M Mahmudur Rahman Miah as Members. The committee will discharge its duties for the next two years. The 8th general election to 11-Member Executive Committee of UGC Officers’ Association was held on 08 February 2018, says a press release.

Barrister M A. Muid Khan has been crowned with the prestigious “Best Human Rights Lawyer of the England & Wales for 2018” award by the President of Bangladesh Lawyers Association (BLA) recently, says a press release. Barrister Shah Alom Sarker, President of BLA declared Mr. Khan, a former student of Department of Law, University of Dhaka, as the Best Human Rights Lawyer England & Wales 2018 for his significant contribution in the field of human rights and fundamental freedoms at national & international level. BLA Excellence Awards are the most highly coveted and respected accolades given to individual qualified British lawyers, studied at the Department of Law, University of Dhaka – the top best university of Bangladesh, who have achieved extraordinary success and shown extraordinary leadership, passion and commitment in the British Legal Field. Mr. Khan was chosen for this prestigious national legal award for his significant achievements at the legal field of United Kingdom & Wales. To honour . Khan, on Sunday 25th February 2018, at 7:00 PM, a special Award Presentation Night was arranged by the honourable BLA President Mr. Shah Alam Sarkar (Barrister) at the Atrium London Venue, 124 Cheshire Street, London, E2 6EJ, United Kingdom. Mr. Khan was crowned with the award, a commemorative trophy, certificate, winner’s logo and a £1000 cheque from the President; in the presence of leading Judges, Barristers, Solicitors, Chartered Legal Executive Lawyers and other legal professionals of England & Wales.
