A rally organised by the Communist Party of Bangladesh (CPB), Palton Thana Unit was held in front of the city’s Shantinagar Bazaar. In the programme held recently the leaders of the organisation bitterly criticized the price spiral of the essential commodities. The speakers also blamed the failure of city corporations in mosquito eradication drive. They demanded of the government to withdraw increased price of gas and keep control the prices of essentials. The leaders also demanded rehabilitation of hawkers before eviction. The rally was addressed, among others, by Secretary of CPB Central Committee Joly Talukder, General Secretary of CPB, Dhaka Committee Dr Sajedul Haque Rubel, General Secretary of CPB, Palton Thana Committee Tridib Saha and students’ leader Kafiluddin Mohammad Shanto. Leader of the organisation Murshiqul Islam presided over the event.

Bangladesh Swadhinata Parishad

A discussion on current politics of the country organised by Bangladesh Swadhinata Parishad (BSP) was held in the auditorium of the Jatiya Press Club. Awami League Publicity and Publication Affairs Secretary Dr Hasan Mahmud was present as the chief guest. While speaking Hasan said BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia has made it clear that her party would take part in the next general election under incumbent Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. “I would like to give thanks to Begum Zia as she has sought vote for her party for the next general election. And it is clear that her party will take part in the next national election under the present government,” he added. The programme was addressed, among others, by World University Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Abdul Mannan Chowdhury, Sammilita Sangskritik Jote leaders Golam Kuddus and Kazi Rosy and Bangabandhu Sangskritik Jote General Secretary Arun Sarker Rana. Adviser of the parishad Hasibur Rahman Manik chaired the function.
