A workshop on “Self Assessment Activities with Employers” organised by Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of DIU was held recently with the employees, faculty members and non-academic employees of the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication (JMC) at Daffodil International University (DIU) in the city. Prof Dr Md Golam Rahman, chief information commissioner, Nayeemul Islam Khan, editor of “The Daily Amader Orthoneeti” and Senior Journalist M Mahfuz Ullah were present at the workshop as discussants. They focused upon the current course curriculum and outlined how to relate academic courses with media industry. Prof Rahman said, “I realize that every university should have their own identity regarding activating course curriculum, although it is a psychological matter.” Nayeemul Islam suggested that there should be a discussion between University Grants Commission (UGC) and universities to change the course curriculum and traditional teaching method as it is a big challenge now.
