Bangladesh Assistant Primary Teachers’ Society
A central committee meeting of Bangladesh Assistant Primary Teachers’ Society was held on Friday at Muktibhaban in the city’s Purana Palton. In the meeting the speakers urged the government to meet the 6-point demands including re-fixation of salary of assistant primary teachers by April 28 next. Otherwise, the society will go for tougher movement for realizing their demands. The programme was addressed, among others, by General Secretary of the organisation Mohammad Halimuzzaman, Senior Vice-President AKM Khasruzzaman, Senior Joint General Secretary Mohammad Mahidul Islam and Aminul Islam Babu. President of the organisation Shahinur-al-Amin presided over the meeting.

A discussion on ‘125th birth anniversary of noted philosopher Dr. B.R. Ambedkar’ organised jointly by Indian High Commission in Dhaka and Bangladesh-India Friendship Society was held in CIRDAP auditorium in the city on Friday. While speaking the speakers in the programme recalled the unparalleled contributions of noted Indian politician and social reformer Dr B.R. Ambedkar in building an egalitarian society saying he would remain as a beacon of hope and inspiration to people. Independent India’s first Law Minister and the main architect of the Indian Constitution Dr. Ambedkar is an icon for people across the board for champions of equality and democracy, for secularism, for movements against caste-based discrimination and for gender justice and women’s rights, they said. High Commissioner of India Harsh Vardhan Shringla, PM’s advisor on political affairs H.T. Imam, member of Law Commission Prof. Shah Alam and president of Bangladesh-India Friendship Society Prof Dr. A.K. Azad Chowdhury spoke on the occasion.
