Bangladesh Swadhinata Parishad
A discussion titled ‘The politics of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is the main policy of development’ organised by Bangladesh Swadhinata Parishad was held on Monday at Jatiya Press Club in the city. Publicity and Publication Affairs Secretary of Bangladesh Awami League Dr Hasan Mahmud was present as the chief guest. While speaking Hasan alleged that local BNP leaders were involved in instigating the Banshkhali incident in Chittagong. ‘Local BNP leaders misled the common people of Banshkhali putting them as opponents to the administration’ he said. The programme was addressed, among others, by Secretary to Awami League sub-committee MA Karim and some leaders of the organisation. President of the parishad Shahadat Hossain presided over the event.
Chandrabati Academy
The cover unwrapping of books for children including ‘Kathar Jhanpi, Satsakal and Anek Akash’ jointly organised by Chandrabati Academy and Bangla Academy was held recently in the auditorium of Abdul Karim Sahitya Bisharad of Bangla Academy in the city. Finance Minister Abul Mal Abdul Muhith was present as the chief guest. While speaking Muhith said the children should be inspired to become book-friendly so that they get the taste of literature, culture and moral education.”There is no alternative to develop reading habits for youngsters to build a better Bangladesh,” the minister added. The programme was also addressed, among others, by Director General of Bangla Academy Prof Shamsuzzaman Khan, AB Bank Managing Director Shamim Ahmed Chowdhury, artistes Hashem Khan and Rafiqun Nabi and Executive Director of Chandrabati Academy Kamruzzaman Kajol. Educationist Prof Anisuzzaman presided over the function.
