Ganotantri Party
A discussion marking the glorious Independence Day organised by Ganotantri Party was held in the auditorium of Liberation War Museum in the city’s Segunbagicha on Thursday. Health and Family Welfare Minister and central 14-party spokesman Mohammad Nasim was present as the chief guest. While speaking Nasim said the 14-Party alliance will not make any compromise on Liberation War and non-communalism issues. He called upon the 14-Party leaders to become united to face all the conspiracies of BNP-Jammat combine. The programme was addressed, among others, by Samyabadi Dal General Secretary Dilip Barua, General Secretary of Ganoazadi League SK Sikder and Ganotantri Party Standing Committee Member Prof Dr Shahidullah Sikder. President of the party Barrister Arosh Ali presided over the event. General Secretary of the organisation Dr Shahadat Hossen presented the keynote paper.
Center for Cancer Prevention and Research
A discussion on ‘Cancer Awareness and Counseling’ organised by the Center for Cancer Prevention and Research (CCPR) was held on the campus of Viqarunnisa Noon School and College in the city’s Baily Road. In the programme the speakers stressed on primary prevention and early detection of cancer. They said people should be informed about the seven signals (sign or symptom) so that they can go to nearest hospital for diagnosis and treatment of cancer at an early stage. The discussion was addressed , among others, by Dr. Md. Habibullah Talukder Ruskin, Associate Professor and Head of Cancer Epidemiology, Dr. Rehena Akhrer, Deputy Director of BSMMU and Mosarrat Jahan Saurav, Executive Director of CCPR. About 1000 students of higher secondary level attended the programme along with the teachers. Assistant Head Teacher of the institution Nazmun Sehar presided over the event.
