Bangabandhu Gabeshana Parishad
A discussion on 97th birthday of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and National Children Day organised by Bangabandhu Gabeshana Parishad was held at Bangabandhu Memorial Museum premises in the city’s 32, Dhanmondi on Thursday. Parliament Member Poet Kazi Rozy was present at the discussion as the chief guest. While speaking Rozy said the children will have to learn about the ideology of Bangabandhu and perception of glorious Liberation War to make them as worthy citizens. She called upon for more inclusion about Bangabandhu’s life and work in textbooks. The discussion was addressed, among others, by Vice-President of the parishad Nurul Islam Talukder, General Secretary Nasir Ullah Bhuiyan, Educationa and Cultural Secretary Advocate Mokhlesur Rahman and Literary Secretary Nayeem Mashreki. Before discussion participants paid tributes to Bangabandhu by placing floral wreaths at his portrai. President of the organisation Lion Gani Miah Babul presided over the programme.
JU Philosophy Alumni Assoc
The reunion of Philosophy Department of Jahangirnagar University (JU) will be held today on the campus. JU Philosophy Alumni Association (JUPAA) arranges the function while JU Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Farzana Islam is expected to address the function as the chief guest.The day-long function includes colorful rally, funny games, raffle draw, grand lunch and finally cultural function at Selim Al Deen Muktamancha.The JUPAA also will give honorary special award to the founder Chairman of Philosophy Department Prof Dr Obayedur Rahman for his outstanding contribution to build up the department.
Probin Kalyan Sangstha
A local NGO namely Probin Kalyan Sangstha organised a free eye camp in the city’s T&T Women University College to mark the birth anniversary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman on Thursday. Dhaka North City Corporation Mayor Annisul Huq inaugurated the eye camp. Specialized physicians examined the eyes of the people who came for treatment and distributed medicine at free of cost. They also scrutinized the eye patients who are suffering from cataract for surgery.
