Leaders and activists of the Communist Party of Bangladesh (CPB) paid rich tributes to Comrade Shaheed Tajul Islam by placing floral wreaths at the temporary altar in front of its central office ‘Muktibhaban’ in the city’s Purana Palton on Tuesday marking 32nd death anniversary of Tajul. Tajul was killed in 1984 during the movement in protest against the autocratic rule of Ershad. President and General Secretary of CPB Comrade Mujahidul Islam Selim and Comrade Syed Abu Jafar Ahmed in a statement urged the countrymen to be united to ensure rights of common people.
Bangabandhu Shishu Kishore Mela
A discussion organised by Bangabandhu Shishu Kishore Mela as part of its month-long celebration of birth anniversary of Bangabandhu was held in front of Bangabandhu Memorial Museum in the city’s 32, Dhanmondi on Tuesday. A rally of tiny-tots and placing of homage to Bangabandhu were also held on the occasion. Railway Minister Md Mujibul Haq was present as the chief guest. While speaking the minister said Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman not only presented the country’s independence but also he introduced Bangladesh to the world community. The event was also addressed, among others, by Awami League Presidium Member Satish Chandra Roy, Vice-Chancellor of Jagannath University Prof Dr Mizanur Rahman, Dhaka City Awami League Organising Secretary Shahe Alam Murad and General Secretary of Bangabandhu Sangskritik Jote Arun Sarker Rana. President of the Mela Shirin Akhter Manju presided over the discussion.
