Jatiya Ganotantrik League
A memorial meeting on Shaheed Flight Sergeant Zahurul Haque organised on the occasion of his 47th death anniversary by Jatiya Ganotantrik League was held in the auditorium of Bangladesh Shishu Kalyan Parishad in the city’s Topkhana Road on Monday. In the meeting the speakers urged Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to honour all accused of Agartala Case including Sergeant Zahurul Haque with Swadhinata Padak. The event was addressed, among others, by Liberation War Affairs Member of Bangladesh Awami League Central Committee and former minister Captain (Retd) AB Tajul Islam, MP, historian Siraj Uddin Ahmed, journalist Azizul Islam Bhuiyan, General Secretary of the organisation Samir Ranjon Das and General Secretary of Bangabandhu Sangskritik Jote Arun Sarker Rana. President of Jatiya Ganotantrik League MA Jalil presided over the event.
Nagorik Mancho
A meeting organised by Nagorik Mancho was held at Laldighi Maidan in Chittagong on Monday in protest against the distortion of the portrait of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. Former Chittagong City Corporation Mayor and president of Chittagong city Awami League (AL) ABM Mohiuddin Chowdhury set a 15-day ultimatum to arrest the ruling party lawmaker M A Latif for, what he said, distorting the portrait of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. He also threatened to launch next course of action from a meeting if he (Latif) is not brought to the book within the stipulated time.
Chittagong City AL Vice-President Khorshed Alam Sujon, Jubo League, Chhatra League and Shramik League leaders also spoke on the occasion. Convenor of the organisation Belayet Hossain presided over the programme.
