Leaders of National Garment Workers Federation observed a token strike demanding due compensation of the affected employees of Tazrin Garments in front of National Press Club yesterday. Presided over by President of the organization Amirul Haq Amin, the programme was addressed by Joint Coordinator of National Workers Federation Kamrul Ahasan, President M Delwar Hossain, General Secretary of Ekota Garment Workers Federation Kamrul Hasan, central leaders Shafia Parveen, Nurun Nahar, Md Faruk Khan, Nasima akhter, Md Rafiq, and Jorina Akhter. They urged the government to take immediate measures to pay the compensation of the injured workers , says a press release.

Higher Education Quality Enhancement Project organised a two-daylong workshop on ‘Establishing Internal Quality Assurance (QA) System at University (Round3)’ at UGC auditorium yesterday. Prof Abdul Mannan, Chairman, University Grants Commission (UGC) of Bangladesh was present as the Chief Guest on the occasion. Prof Mohammad Yousuf Ali Mollah, Member, UGC was present as the special Guest on the workshop. Prof Dr. Mesbahuddin Ahmed, Head of Quality Assurance Unit gave the welcome address. Dr. Gauranga Chandra Mohanta ndc, Project Director, HEQEP presided over the function. UGC Chairman in his speech said that a well functioning quality assurance system will make significant contribution to ensure quality education. He urged the concerned authority to make effective their newly establishing internal quality assurance cell in the universities. He observed that huge expansion has taken place in tertiary level education in the country. Now time has come to enhance quality education in the field of higher education. Ensuring quality education will also increase quality of life. We should regularly update our course curriculum in the tertiary level education. UGC Member Prof Dr. Dil Afroza Begum, Prof Dr. Sanjoy Kumar Adhikary, QA Specialist, representative from 37 public and private universities (round-3), high officials of UGC and HEQEP were present in the workshop, says a press release.
Diploma Krishibid Institution
Leaders of Diploma Krishibid Institution, Bangladesh, Dhaka Branch submitted a memorandum to the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina through the Deputy Commissioner of Dhaka yesterday. In the memorandum , they demanded 10th grade pay scale for the diploma krishibids which was committed by the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at the inauguration ceremony of KIB Complex on October 23, 2013, says a press release.
