Nagorik Oikya
A rally organised by Nagorik Oikya, Dhaka City Unit was held at a community center in the city’s Mirpur on Sunday with the Convenor of Nagorik Oikya , Dhaka City Unit, North Shahidullah Kaiser in the chair. In the rally the speakers demanded unconditional release and proper treatment of Nagorik Oikya Convenor Mahmudur Rahman Manna. The event was addressed, among others, by President of Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal ASM Abdur Rob, General Secretary of Bangladesher Samajtantrik Dal Khalequzzaman, General Secretary of Biplobi Workers Party Saiful Haque, Convenor of Nagorik Chhatra Oikya Nazmul Hasan and leader of Nari Oikya Advocate Rubi.
Green Mind Society
Different organisations including Save The Environment Movement, Nagorik Adhikar Sangrakshan Forum, Bangladesh Paribesh Andolon, Green Mind Society, Nirapad Development Foundation and Sammilito Jaladhar Raksha Andolon jointly form a human chain titled ‘Wetlands for Our Future: Sustainable Livelihoods’ in front of the Faculty of Fine Arts of Dhaka University today in observance of World Wetlands Day-2016. All the leaders and activists of the said organisations are requested to join the human chain to make the programme a success.
Refuge and Migratory Movements Research
A dissemination workshop on ” Gender practices of remittance Use : Implication for human Resources and Youth Development was organised by the Refuge and Migratory Movements Research Unit ( RMMRU) on Sunday at the conference room of Senate Bhaban, University of Dhaka . The workshop was attended by academia, representatives from government, NGOs, media and civil society. In the first session, Dr Syeda Rozana Rashid , Associate Professor, University of Dhaka and Dr Jalal Uddin Sikder of University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh presented their study findings on gendered use of remittances for human resources and youth development. They claimed that both male and female migrants prefer to invest in physical resources such as land houses which are of huge social and economic values.

Prof Tasneem Siddique , founding chair of RMMRU and professor in Political Science , University of Dhaka synthesized the research findings . She stressed on policies to include vocational training in the regular education curricula as well as necessary accreditation of the trainings for producing skilled manpower to be absorbed at home and abroad, says a press release.
