Shaishab Mela Bangladesh
A winter cloths distribution programme organised by Shaishab Mela Bangladesh was held in the city’s Mohammadpur on Friday. Awami League Joint General Secretary Jahangir Kabir Nanak, MP was present as the chief guest. While speaking Nanak sought people’s unity and vigilance against anti-government plots which he said were being hatched from home and abroad. He also urged the affluent section of the society to come forward to help the cold-hit poor people. President of the organisation Golam Kibria Apu presided over the programme. Mohammadpur Thana Awami League General Secretary Habibur Rahman Mizan also spoke, among others, on the occasion.
IDEB Executive Committee
Leaders of the newly elected Executive Committee of the Institution of Diploma Engineers, Bangladesh (IDEB), a professional organisation paid tribute to Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman by placing floral wreaths at his portrait on Saturday in the city’s 32, Dhanmondi . A 33-member central committee led by its President AKMA Hamid and General Secretary M Shamsur Rahman placed wreath. Science and Technology Minister Architect Yafesh Osman, Former Home Minister and Chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Public Accounts Dr Mahiuddin Khan Alamgir, MP were present on the occasion.
BD- Japan Society for Promotion of Science Alumni Assoc
A day-long international seminar on “Green Technology and Society” organised by the Bangladesh Japan Society for the Promotion of Science Alumni Association (BJSPSAA) was held on Saturday at the Institute of Nutrition and Food Sciences (INFS) of Dhaka University (DU). DU VC Prof Dr AAMS Arefin Siddique inaugurated the seminar as the chief guest. President of BJSPSAA Prof. Dr. Md. Afzal Hossain presided over the inaugural function while DU Pro-VC (Academic) Prof Dr Nasreen Ahmad and FAO Representative in Bangladesh Mike Robson addressed it as special guests. VC of United International University Prof Dr Mohammad Rezwan Khan delivered ed key-note speech on “Solar Energy: Bangladesh Perspective”. VC of Pabna Science and Technology University Prof. Al-Nakib Chowdhury, General Secretary of BJSPSAA Dr. Nur Ahamed Khondaker and Organizing Secretary Dr. Mizanur Rahman also addressed the function.
