University Grants Commission (UGC) Chairman will attend the Special Convocation of Kazi Nazrul University, Asansol, West Bengal as the Chief Guest. The Special and First Annual Convocation of Kazi Nazrul University, Asansol, West Bengal will be held at the premises of the University on 28 January 2016. UGC Chairman Professor Abdul Mannan will deliver the Convocation speech .Shri Keshari Nath Tripathi, Governor of West Bengal and Honourable Chancellor of the University will preside over the Convocation while Dr. Partha Chatterjee, Honurable Minister-in-Charge, Department of Higher Education, Government of West Bengal will be present as Guest of Honour on the occasion, says a press release.

American volunteer expert, Dr. Khalid M. Hameed, Mushroom Specialist of Duke University conducted a training on Low-Cost Mushroom Production Techniques for young people at Madhupur, Tangail from January12 to 24, 2016 under the USAID funded Asia Farmer-to-Farmer (F2F) Programme implemented by Winrock International.This low-cost and fully hands-on technical training intended to build capacity of youth group members on low-cost mushroom production techniques and increase the number of new youth-led mushroom enterprises.
Mass Communication & Journalism Dept, DU
A new gold medal titled ‘Rashida Muhiuddin Gold Medal’ has been introduced at the Department of Mass Communication & Journalism of Dhaka University (DU). Rezaul Karim, brother of late Rashida Muhiuddin handed over a cheque for Tk. 8 lac to DU Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. AAMS Arefin Siddique on Sunday at the VC’s office to introduce the gold medal. Chairman of the Department of Mass Communication & Journalism Prof. Mofizur Rahman and Acting Registrar Syed Rezaur Rahman were present on this occasion. Out of the income of this donation, every year one meritorious student who will secure the highest CGPA in BSS Honors examination from the Department of Mass Communication & Journalism of DU will be awarded ‘Rashida Muhiuddin Gold Medal.’ VC Prof. Dr. Arefin Siddique thanked the donor for introducing this gold medal at Dhaka University and hoped that the students would be highly benefited and encouraged from this donation.

Freshers’ reception and orientation programme for the Spring Semester-2016 of Southeast University (SEU) was held at its Permanent Campus at Tejgaon in the city on Saturday. VC of SEU Prof. Anwar Hossain was present at the programme as Chief Guest, while Professor Emeritus of SEU Prof. Dr. M. Shamsher Ali was present as special guest. Pro- VC Prof. Dr. Md. Humayun Kabir Chowdhury presided over the programme. Registrar Maj Gen Kazi Fakhruddin Ahmed, psc (Retd) welcomed newly enrolled students. Dean SASS Prof. Dr. Mohammed Ali Rashid, Dean SSE Prof. Syed Fakhrul Hassan and Dean SBS Prof. Dr. A.F.M. Mafizul Islam also welcomed the students and introduced their respective schools. Highlighting about the quality of education in SEU, the speakers encouraged the students to have right goal for life and positive mindset to pursue education consistently. The speakers also reiterated that SEU has the right environment to help them in achieving their goals and students should consider SEU as their second home. The programme was attended among others by the Member of South Asia Foundation Osman Goni Kanchonthe, Chief Coordinator of BOT, SEU Trust Wing Cdr.
