Bangabandhu Academy
A discussion organised by Bangabandhu Academy was held at Dhaka Reporters Unity in the city’s Segunbagicha on Monday in memory of founder president of Bangabandhu Sangskritik Jote and Awami League leader late Alamgir Kumkum, a celebrated film director. Publicity and Publication affairs secretary of the ruling Awami League Dr Hasan Mahmud was present as the chief guest. While addressing Hasan said that the cultural activities should be geared up to resist militancy and communalism. .Presided over by its adviser Nazir Miah, the discussion was also addressed, among others, by popular film hero Akbar Hossain Pathan Faruque, president of Film Distributors Association Haroon Chowdhury, film actress Dilara Jaman, film director Danny Sidak and cultural activist Humayun Kabir Miji. Paying glowing tributes to Alamgir Kumkum, Dr Hasan Mahmud said, “Throughout his long career, Alamgir Kumkum most devotedly took part in political and cultural activities. He was one of those bravest sons of the soil who condemned the gruesome assassination of father of the nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.”
The Awami League leader said there would be no place for conspirators in Bangladesh and the present government would stamp out any evil design of the conspirators with iron hand.
