Abu Sayeed Chowdhury Smrity Sangsad
A discussion organised by Abu Sayeed Chowdhury Smrity Sangsad was held on Thursday at Sagar-Runi auditorium of Dhaka Reporters Unity at Segunbagicha in observance of the 27th death anniversary of former President of the Republic Justice Abu Sayeed Chowdhury. In the discussion the speakers raised the demand for decorating Justice Abu Sayeed Chowdhury with the independence medal. Alongside, they also demanded naming of a dormitory of Dhaka University or a street in the capital after him.
The event was addressed, among others, by Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr AAMS Arefin Siddique, Poet Mahbub Talukdar and former ambassador Raziul Hasan. President of the organisation Mirza Mazharul Islam presided over the programme.
Justice Abu Sayeed Chowdhury, one of the organisers of the country’s war of liberation and former President of the Republic, breathed his last on August 2 in 1987. He was born in a respected Jamindar family of Nagbari in Tangail district on January 31 in 1921.
