Deshratna Sebak Sangha
A discussion titled ‘Who are involved in conspiracy and al-Qaeda activities for foiling peace in Bangladesh’ organised by Deshratna Sebak Sangha was held at the National Press Club in the city recently with Food Minister Advocate Quamrul Islam as the chief guest. While speaking he urged all for building resistance against Jamaat-Shibir-Hefajat militants and termed them as homegrown new version of Al Qaeda. President of the Sangha Chitta Ranjan Das presided over the programme. Among others, Krishak League Vice President M A Karim and AL leader Shahjahan Alam spoke on the occasion. Quamrul said Tareq Rahman has been working as the agent of al-Qaeda as militancy emerged in the country immediately after Tareq Rahman joined politics.During the time, the minister said, bomb exploded simultaneously in 63 districts when Bangla Bhai, leader of banned Jama’tul Mujahidden emerged. Bangla Bhai was later hanged to death.
European Standard School
The European Standard School (ESS), an English Version School with national curriculum, observed the “Amar Ekushey (Immortal Ekushey) and International Mothers’ Language Day” on its campus in city in a befitting manner. Different programmes were chalked out commemorating the supreme sacrifice of the language martyred and celebrating the International Mothers’ Language Day.
The programmes included essay, art and painting competitions, discussion, cultural function and staging drama highlighting the significance of the day.
