Sundarbans Raksha Jatiya Committee
A rally organised by Sundarbans Raksha Jatiya Committee was held in front of the National Press Club on Friday. In the rally speakers demanded an immediate ban on the plying of mechanised vessels in and around the Sundarbans. They also demanded that the authorities take effective steps to clean up the oil slicks emerged on the water surface across a huge area of the mangrove forest due to the oil spillage that also posed a great threat to the biodiversity.
