A rally organised by the National Committee to Protect Shipping, Roads and Railways (NCPSRR) was held on Thursday in front of the National Press Club. In the rally the speakers demanded Tk 10 lakh compensation for each of the dead and missing passengers of sunken river vessel ‘Pinak-6’. They criticised the government for not paying the adequate compensation to the relatives of the ‘Pinak-6’ victims. The speakers also criticised the Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority (BIWTA) for not taking punitive measures against the officials responsible for the ‘Pinak-6’ capsize. The rally was addressed, among others, by NCPSRR convener Ashish Kumar Dey and Chairman of the Institute of Water and Environment Enamul Haque.
