A discussion meeting was held at the Sri Sri Ankul Tagore Sat Sang Ashram in Sultanpur on Monday afternoon on the occasion of the inauguration of the new organization of Indigenous Peoples Organization (NAS) at Panchbibi in Joypurhat.
Joypurhat Zilla Parishad Chairman Md. Arifur Rahman Rocket and Upazila Awami League President Abu Bakkar Siddique Mandal, former Vice Chairman of Upazila Parishad Abu Taleb Chowdhury Babu, Adviser of Upazila NGO Coordination Council Rafiqul Islam Chowdhury Shahin, Panchbibi were the chief guests and special guests at the function presided over by President Kashinath Mahato.
Assistant Professor of Degree College Sudarshan Sarkar, President of Hindu Buddhist Christian Unity Parishad Sunil Roy, Secretary Subhash Chandra Das, Secretary of NAS Parameshwar Mahato, Ethnic group leaders Kamala Minji, Mahindranath Minji, Sajit Chandra and others.
In addition, 100 candles were lit, masks and tree saplings were distributed on the occasion to mark the centenary of Mujib’s birth. Kashinath Mahato, president of the organization, said NAS would be a non-political, voluntary and social service organization. There are 35,000 ethnic groups living in this upazila and NAS will make a special contribution to their development.
