BNP senior leader Gayeshwar Chandra Roy on Friday alleged that opposition leaders and activists are not getting justice for lack of the rule of law in the country.
“There’s no rule of law now in the country. After any incident, the ministers are now telling who will go to jails and who will be hanged before any investigation. So, actually who are holding trials- government or judges? Is the government determining it?” he said.
Gayeshwar, a BNP standing committee member, came up with the remarks while inaugurating a free medical camp on the ground floor of BNP’s Nayapaltan central office. Doctors’ Association of Bangladesh (DAB) arranged the programme, marking BNP senior vice chairman Tarique Rahman’s 51st birthday day. The BNP leader said they will get justice if the trials are held freely without any political interference. “Opposition leaders and activists are being attacked continuously. It can’t continue.”
Criticising the government for what he said serious slide in law and order, Gayeshwar said there is no security of people and their property. “Even, there’s no guarantee of people’s natural death. Foreigners and country’s citizens are being killed, but offenders are not brought to justice.”
He said the culture of impunity is encouraging the criminals to commit crimes.
Mentioning that conspiracies are on both at home and abroad against their senior vice chairman Tarique Rahman, the BNP leader said their leader will return home braving all obstacles and plots.
He also said they will restore democracy in the country under the leadership of Tarique.
