City Mayor AJM Nasir Uddin said the opinions of the civil society towards infrastructure development of the port city will be given highest preference .
He disclosed it while addressing the first meeting of the newly constituted Civil Society Coordination Committee , Chittagong at City Corporation auditorium on Thursday afternoon as Chief Guest.
In his brief deliverations emphasized the need of the opinions of the civil society in all respect and sought cooperation from all irrespective of caste and creed. He said the newly civil society committee formed aimed at looking after the proper implementation of city infrastructure development projects.
CSCC is constituted duly patronized by the donor agency JAICA under City Governance Project of the donor agency.
About 103 representatives from CSCC, professionals, civil society, pvt sectors, NGOs, women personalities and councilors were present in the meeting. City Mayor depicted the aims and objectives of the committee, necessity, activities of the CSCC before the meeting. City Mayor also disclosed that 19 projects under CGP of JAICA will be implemented in city during 2015-16 fiscal at a cost of Tk.188 crores.
Besides, JAICA will fund for Tk.386 cr during 2016-17 fiscal for 15 projects under CGP projects, he added.
Among others, former Vice Chancellor of Chittagong University Dr. Anowarul Azim Arif, Engr. Ali Ashraf, Engr. Dellwar Hossain Majumder, Engr. Md Haroon, Engr. Abdur Rashid, Dr. Mojibul Hoque, Dr.Faisal Iqbal, Architect Sohel Md. Sakoor, Architect Ashiq Imran, Journalist M Nasirul Hoque, Mohsin Chowdhury, Chamber Director Wahid Siraj, Mahfuzul Hoque Shah, Engr.Kafiluddin, Mrs. Rekha Alam Chowdhury, Mrs. Shamima Haroon Lubna, Usha Dey and Anowar Alam spoke on the occasion.
