RMG workers of a garments factory in the city staged demonstration at Majirghat area under Sadarghat thana in city yesterday morning demanding opening of the closed factories immediately.
The demonstration held infront of Valient Garments factory of Majirghat. Police Inspector of Industrial Police Arifur Rahman told that about 900 workers are working in three factories of Valient Group in three buildings .
In the meantime , European building surveyor Arcade & Alliance declared the factory building of Valient group risky and asked the management of the factory to shift their factories by July 20 last .
According to their directives, the factory management closed down these factories from 18 July last. In the meantime Valient Group management asked their workers to work in other garments factories .
But the factory based trade union protested the decision of the management and the workers staged demonstration by obstructing the movement of transports putting barricade in Majirghat road yesterday.
The speakers in the barricade called upon the management of the factories to resume work by Sunday next otherwise tough movement will be enforced, sources said.
