Opening match of SAFF Championship rescheduled

The South Asian Football Federation (SAFF) Championship, the most prestigious football meet of South Asia will be held at Male, the capital city of Maldives from October 1 to October 16.
The match between Bangladesh and Sri Lanka will start at 5.00pm instead of 10.00pm, while the match between hosts Maldives and Nepal will take place at 10.00pm instead of 5.00pm. both the matches will be held on October1.
General Secretary of SAFF Anwarul Haque Helal said, ” Hosts Maldives want to arrange an inaugural ceremony before the second match. So, Maldives Football Federation wants that the match between Maldives and Nepal will be held in the night.”
Helal said, ” We discuss with Bangladesh Football Federation and Sri Lanka Football Federation. They have revealed that they have no objection to change the schedule of their match. So, we have changed the timing of those matches.”
He said, ” Maldives Football Federation have not yet disclose about their opening ceremony. There will be laser show and cultural show in the inaugural ceremony. The Federation have not finalized their programme. SAFF has acknowledged Maldives Football Federation to follow the health protocol.”
A total of five teams will take part in the first phase of the SAFF Championship. The first phase will be held on Single League basis. Top two teams will play in the final.
