A solid opening stand by Mahbubul Karim and Joyraz Sheikh saw Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club recorded an overwhelming 8-wicket victory over Kalabagan Krira Chakra in their opening match of the
Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League held on Sunday at the Khan Shaheb Osman Ali Stadium in Fatullah, Narayanganj.
Batting first after winning the important toss, Kalabagan KC faced early batting jolt and finally dismissed at a small total of 152 in 44.3 overs with Mehedi Hasan Miraj top scoring 25 runs.
Medium pacer Muktar Ali caused the major damage grabbing four wickets. He was well supported by off spinner Sohag Gazi and Mahmudullah, who both claimed two wickets apiece.
Chasing a winning target of 153 runs set by Kalabagan, the two Sheikh Jamal openers — Mahbubul Karim (78-ball) and Joyraz Sheikh (14)– gave a solid start contributing 80 runs for the opening stand.
Biswanath Halder took the wicket of Mahbub, whose impressive knock came just 72 balls.
Later, Marshal Ayub (31) and Mahmudullha (21) completed the formalities to remain unbeaten till the end of the innings.
