Sheikh Arif Bulbon :
Goethe-Institut Bangladesh organised the second edition of the
Open Mic at its auditorium
recently which was filled with music, poetry and comedy.
On the rain washed evening,
a capacity audience attended the event either to perform or just to enjoy the evening’s performance.
Welcoming the audience, Philip Kueppers, Director of Goethe-Institut Bangladesh, invited comedian and magician Max Mystel
on stage to moderate the event.
Comedian and magician Max Mystel from the streets of London was the moderator of the evening and also the key entertainer during the event with witty humour
and illusive magic tricks,
he made the audience laugh
until their bellies hurt.
The talented musician duo, Akash and Jack, from the Classical Music Academy, sung Mone ki dwidha rekhe gele choley and Sokol-e furalo of Rabindranath Tagore, Matir-o pinjira of Hason Raja and Milon hobe koto diney of Fakir Lalon Sai.
Liza Chowdhury’s recitation of the Tagore poetry Nirjhorer Swapno Bhongo and young poet Sayeeda
T Ahmad’s recitation two of her own poems in English captivated the audience. After that, Moffazzal and Iqram gave a gently
instrumental performance of Celine Dion’s – My heart will go on with guitar and violin.
The idea behind organising another edition of the Open Mic titled Open Mic Evening Vol II, was to
provide a stage for all performers including poets and writers,
comedians, musicians, singers, songwriters and theatre artists,
whoever wanted to be heard. n
