BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said that their party Chairperson Khaleda Zia could now be freed through united movement since the High Court rejected her bail plea once again.
He told it to the reporters on Sunday after placing wreath at the founder President of the BNP Ziaur Rahman’s grave at Sher-e-Bangla Nagar in the capital, after the latest round of Khaleda’s legal proceedings for release found no light.
“This is a fascist government and they are keeping Begum Khaleda Zia behind bars out of political vengeance. They are not granting her the bail which she deserves,” Fakhrul said.
He said, “We are appro-aching to the people to unite them. We believe that the leader of democracy will be freed through the united movement of people. “
The BNP leaders had called for the release of Khaleda through movement, but the ruling Awami League leaders had questioned their capacity.
“We are trying our best to free Begum Khaleda Zia as her illness is making us extremely worried,” added Fakhrul.
The BNP leader said, “For the past two years, we have been trying to get our leader released both legally and politically. But this fascist government has been keeping her under detention illegally.”
