An onion traders has been beaten to death allegedly by a market guard as he did not give Tk 10 toll.
The incident took place at Pulerghat Bazar under Gafargaon upazila in Mymensingh district at about 6:00pm on Friday.
A resident of Bashia village under Tangab union in the upazila, deceased Jainal Mia, 50, was an onion trader at the market.
Witnesses said Jainal had a dispute with the market guard Mostafa, 30, over toll of Tk 10.
An altercation took place as Mostafa again demanded the toll, and at one stage, he punched and kicked him indiscriminately, leaving him dead on the spot.
Being informed, police recovered the body and sent it to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital morgue, said Pagla Police Station officer in-charge Md Shahnuzzaman Khan.
