Onion prices shoot up in Ctg

PV Online Report : Onion prices are rising. The price of onion imported from India has increased by Tk 15-20 per kg in the retail market of Chittagong in a week.
At this time the wholesale price has also increased by 10-12 taka. With the increase in the price of Nasik onion in India, the price of small size onion of local variety is also increasing.
On Tuesday (October 5) morning, onions were sold at Tk 55-60 in various retail grocery stores including Kazir Dewri kitchen market and CDA Market in the city. Garlic imported from China and realization are on the rise due to rising onion prices. Chinese garlic is being sold at Tk 110-115 per kg. Chinese ginger is being sold for 100 taka.
The shopkeepers said they had to buy per kg onion from Khatunganj at Tk 55 in the morning. This is accompanied by car rental, polythene, labor costs and ancillary costs. A few kilos of rotten onions have to be thrown in each sack. If you don’t sell 60 taka in total, you won’t be able to feed.
