A court in Mnaikganj on Monday sentenced one person to death for killing a day labourer in Saturia upazila of the district in 2022.
District and Sessions Judge Joyosree Samaddar pronounced the verdict in presence of the convict Hridoy, son of Meher Ali, a resident of village Brahmondi in Daulatpur upazila of the district.
The court also fined him Tk 20,000.
According to prosecution, on May 12, 2022, Hridoy killed day labourer Arif at Beltola village in Saturia upazila of the district over previous enmity. The locals caught the killer and handed him over to the police.
A murder case was filed with Saturia Police Station accusing Hridoy.
The investigation Officer (IO) of the case SI Ziaul Hasan of Saturia Police Station submitted the charge-sheet against Hridoy.
After examining the documents and witnesses the judge pronounced the verdict.
