A tribunal here on Wednesday convicted a man and sentenced him to death for killing a schoolgirl in 2016.
The condemned convict is Abdul Malek, son of Abdul Latif of Baluga Diar village in Sadar upazila.
According to the prosecution, the convict swooped on four schoolgirls including Konika, daughter of Laxman Ghosh of Diar Dhainagar village in Sadar upazila ,at Manipur intersection and hit them with sharp weapons while returning home from school on May 27, 2016, leaving them injured.
Later, they were rushed to sadar hospital where doctors declared Konika dead.
