One-third patients of Bangladesh have been suffering from lung diseases while the number of asthma patients is nearly 70 lakh, a health expert told a scientific conference yesterday.
Unplanned urbanization, environment and industrial pollution cause lung, asthma and cardiovascular diseases, Prof Dr Mirza Mohammad Hiron told the conference in the auditorium of Bangladesh College of Physician and Surgeons here.
The Chest and Heart Association of Bangladesh is organizing the two-day conference.
State Minister for Health and Family Welfare Zahid Maleque, President of Bangladesh Medical Association (BMA) Dr Mustafa Jalal Mohiuddin, Acting Secretary General Dr Md Abu Raihan and physicians, among others, addressed the conference with the association president Prof Mirza Mohammmad Hiron in the chair.
Zahid said the government is relentlessly working to reach healthcare facilities to the doorsteps of the common people.
