Faruk Ahmed, 35, a succumbed to burn injury in DMCH burn unit on Saturday morning after an explosion at a scrap material shop in Dhaka’s Mohammadpur area last Tuesday.
Faruk, a shop employee who suffered 56 percent burns, died at the High Dependency Unit of
Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery around 3:00am, said Bachchu Mia, in-charge of DMCH Police Outpost.
Three injured are still in a critical condition and being treated for their burns, while three others were released, Bachchu Mia added.
Earlier, the fire broke out at the shop near Chand Udyan Bhanga Mosque while abandoned bottles were being smashed by a machine and one of the bottles exploded.
It spread to an adjacent shop where at least seven persons were burnt.
