One Rubel Kazi was shot dead and another was injured when an armed clash took place between the two rival groups of people belonging to Awami League in the village Mollarkul under Mollahat Upazila in the district on Saturday evening over the playing of badminton match.
Abu Sayeed Muhammad Khairul Anam, Officer-in-charge of Mollahat PS informed that in the evening an altercation took place between the 2 groups of young men of the over the playing of a badminton match But at one stage it turned into an armed clash between the 2 rival groups of Khakipara area-one led by Shahjahan Khaki and the other led by Nayek Kazi among whom an enmity had been prevailing for long over the expansion of supremacy in the locality and gun fire was exchange between the two groups. As a result, Rubel Kazi, son of Nayek Kazi sustained bullet injuries on his person. He was rushed to the local Hospital where the doctor declared him dead. Being informed of the matter a police squad rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control. But nobody was arrested in this connection till the writing of this report. Police recovered the dead body for sending the same to morgue for its autopsy. A tense situation is still prevailing there..
