One sentenced to life imprisonment in Barishal

A Barishal court has sentenced an accused to life imprisonment for killing a day laborer in Barishal. Besides, he has been fined Tk 2 lakh or sentenced to 3 months imprisonment in default.
Barishal District and Sessions Judge KM Rasheduzzaman Raja pronounced the verdict on Sunday (May 29th) afternoon after taking testimony of 13 witnesses and other documents, bench assistant Kamrul Islam said.
The convicted Raihan Mridha is the son of Rashid Mridha, a resident of Mridha Bari, Bhasani Road, Rupatli area Ward 25 of the city, was present during announcing the verdict.
The bench assistant further said convicted Raihan stabbed day laborer Mamun Matubbar on Bhasani Road on June 12, 2020 in a dispute over giving wage. Locals rescued Mamun and admitted him to Barishal Sher-e-Bangla Medical College (Shebachim) Hospital. The doctor on duty later pronounced him as dead.
Later Munni Begum filed a case in the court on June 12, 2020 in this connection.
On November 26, 2021, PBI inspector Matinur Rahman issued a charge sheet against Raihan, the only accused in the case.
