Khadem Sardar murder case: One sentenced to death, two get life -term in Barisal

Barisal District and Session court on Wednesday sentenced one accused to death and two others to life- term imprisonment in Khadem Sardar murder case of 2014.
The court also acquitted other seven accused from the charges founding them not guilty.
The death convicted was Nannu Mrridha, 40, of Nandankathi village of Gournadi upazila of the district and life term sentenced were as Sentu Mridha (in absentia), 35, and Alam Mrridha, 37, of the same area.
Advocate Gias Uddin Kabul, district public prosecutor, said Syed Enayet Hussain, district and session judge, handed down this verdict after examining 11 witnesses and other evidences.
According to the case story in brief that Shah Alam Sardar, 30, of Nandankathi village under Gournadi upazila of the district, came under attack led by Nannu and Sentu Sardar on October 13, 2014 night over land dispute and protesting drug peddling.
Hearing the news when Khadem Hossain Sardar, father, and Aslam Sardar, brother of Shah Alam rushed to the spot, they were mercilessly chopped and Khadem Sardar killed on the spot.
Shah Alam Sardar filed a murder case in this connection accusing 13 persons on the next day with Gournadi police station.
The case was transferred to CID on November 12, 2014 and CID inspector Selim Shahnewaz filed charge sheet against 12 persons on June 16, 2016 before the court.
However the court accepted charge sheet against 10 accused.
After declaring the verdict although the prosecution side expressed their satisfaction, but complainant of the case vowed to file appeal before higher court against acquitting 7 accused.
