One owner of MV Avijan held in Keraniganj Jalakathi launch fire

Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has arrested Hamjalal Sheikh, one of the four owners of MV Avijan-10, in connection with the fatal fire incident in the launch that left 41 people dead and many more injured.
Law enforcement officers arrested him raiding the home of one of his relatives in Keraniganj.
RAB’s Legal and Media Wing Director Commander Khandaker Al Moeen confirmed the matter to the media on Monday.
The accused four owners of the launch company in the case are identified as Hamzalal Sheikh, Shamim Ahmed, Russell Ahmed and Ferdous Hasan Rabbi. Riaz Sikder, the master in charge of the launch, Md. Masum Billah, Second Master Khalilur Rahman and Second Driver Abul Kalam.
Earlier on Sunday noon, an arrest warrant was issued against eight people including four owners of MV Abhijan-10 over the launch fire.
Judge (Special Metropolitan Magistrate) of Dhaka Marine Court Joynab Begum issued the warrant.
Chief Inspector of shipping department Md Shafiqur Rahman filed the case under sections 56/66 and 70 of the Special Maritime Law.
A massive fire broke out at Barguna-bound MV Abhijan-10 in the Sugandha river in Deuri area under Ponabalia union early Friday.
A total of 41 people, so far, died, and many remain missing in the incident. And many others are being treated at hospitals with burn injuries.
