One more dengue patient died at Khulna Medical College Hospital early Tuesday while a total of 469 patients have been admitted to different hospitals across the country in last 24 hours.
The deceased was identified as Abdur Rouf, 35, of Radhanagar village in Bagharpara upazila of Jashore.
Rauf was admitted to the hospital on Monday evening and died around 4:00am on Tuesday, said Shailendranath Biswas, a doctor of the hospital.
According to the office of Khulna Civil Surgeon, 15 people have died of dengue in the district since the outbreak of the mosquito-borne disease in January this year.
Till 8:00am on Tuesday, 131 new patients were admitted in Dhaka and 338 in districts outside Dhaka.
Dengue, a mosquito-borne virus, spreads among humans through its carrier, the Aedes mosquito.
The Health Emergency Operation Centre and Control Room at the
Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), in a press release yesterday, said the number of patients currently undergoing treatment in government and private hospitals in the country is 1,928.
A total of 75 dengue patients have died across Bangladesh from January 1 till September 24, according to their own collected data. However, the unofficial death toll is reported to be over 162, so far.
As many as 778 patients were currently receiving treatment in 41 government and private hospitals in Dhaka, whereas 1,150 people were undergoing treatment outside Dhaka, the DGHS data said. Since January 1 till September 24, as many as 85,757 people have been affected by dengue.
Among those admitted, a total of 83,605 have been released from their respective hospitals and clinics after treatment.
