A suspected robber was killed in a reported gunfight with police at Syed Nazrul Islam Bridge area in Bhairab Port town of Kishoreganj on Wednesday midnight.
A team of police arrested Shohag and conducted a drive at Syed Nazrul Islam Bridge area to recover firearms around 3.30 a.m (Wednesday midnight).
Sensing the law enforcers presence Shohag’s associates opened fire on police, prompting them to retaliate, triggering the gunfight.
At one state, robber Shohag caught in the line of fire, leaving him injured while to othes managed to flee the spot. Shohag was son of Mohammad Ali at Dakkin Para area in Bhairab town.
Additional Police Super Md. Nazmul Islam said that police arrested Shohag (26) in many cases including robbery charge.
Two policeman A.S.I Md. Habibullah and Constable Abdul Wahab were injured during the operation. The injured were taken to Bhairab Hospital where duty doctor declared Shohat dead while two cops undergoing treatment.
Police also recovered one pipe-gun, one chopper, a knife and bulets from the spot.
Shohag was involved in policeman Arif killing. A policeman named Arif was killed by muggers at Syed Nazrul Islam Bridge toll plaza on Sunday night.
