One killed over Tk 20 recharge in cell phone

One youth was killed by the local miscreants at Musapur under offshore island Sandwip in Chittagong on Friday night. The victim was identified as Mohammad Abu Sayed (22), son of Mohammad Bashar of Musapur.
 Sources and police said, Nijam Swadagor, the owner of a shop at Nir Bangla School area at Musapur under offshore island Sandwip requested to Abu Sayed to sit at his shop for sometimes as he was going home for important matter last evening.
Mohammed Shohel, a Chhatra League cadre and son of Awami League leader Kamal Sardar of the same area came to the shop and demanded recharging Tk 20 to his mobile without paying money while Abu Sayed stayed at the shop. But, Abu Sayed denied to recharge as the owner was absent at that time.
Sohel locked in altercation with Abu Sayed and at one stage he beat up him severely. Meanwhile, Sohel called his four other accomplices and they came to the spot. They beat up Abu Sayed by cricket bats causing his severe injury.
Locals sent the victim Abu Sayed to Chittagong Medical College Hospital. The duty doctors of the hospital declared Abu Sayed dead after reaching hospital.
Officer in Charge of Sandwip thana alleged that the miscreants killed Abu Sayed by beating him. Police arrested one Shamim, the accomplice of Shohel while rests are still absconded. Police is trying to nab the criminals as a case has been filed in this connection.
