UNB, Madaripur :
A man was killed and 15 others were injured in a clash between two group of villagers over a piece of land at Akalborish village in Kalkini upazila early Sunday.
The deceased was identified as Shahjahan Talukdar, 40, son of Rashed Talukdar of the village.
Quoting locals, police said there was a long standing dispute between Abul Hossain Bepari and Shahjahan Talukdar of the village over a piece of land.
On Saturday evening, an altercation ensued between the two groups which led to a clash.
A chase and counter-chase took place during the melee that left 16 people injured.
Among the injured, Shahjahan Talukdar was rushed to Kalkini upazila Health Complex where he succumbed to his injuries around 3am on Sunday.
Nazmul Huda, officer-in-charge of Kalkini Police Station, confirmed the incident and said previous enmity might be the reason of the killing.
