A collision between a car and a covered van on a flyover in Chittagong has left one person dead and another injured yesterday.
The incident took place on the Akhteruzzaman Flyover in the port city on Thursday morning, said Sub-Inspector Delwar Hossain of Khulshi Police Station.
“The covered van was using the wrong lane on the flyover to head to Muradpur while the private car was on its way to Lalkhan Bazar.
“Two persons, who were inside the car, suffered grave injuries as the vehicles collided head-on.
They were rushed to the Chittagong Medical College Hospital.
The covered van driver fled the scene,” said the SI.
Doctors declared 27-year-old Monti Chowdhury dead, while 45-year-old Amit is under treatment for injuries.
Police used a mobile phone found in the car to call Monti’s family.The family later rushed to CMCH and identified him, said CMCH police outpost ASI Alauddin Talukder.
