UNB, Pabna :A man was killed and 12 others were injured in a clash between supporters of Awami League-backed and rebel candidates over the campaign for the upcoming union parishad (UP) election at Mirpur village in Dhalarchar union of Bera upazila on Saturday night.Jakir Hossain, assistant superintendent of police of Bera circle, said supporters of AL nominated Korban Ali, president of Dhalarchar union unit of AL, launched an attack on the men of rebel candidate Nasir Uddin Mandol, general secretary of the same unit, during campaign in the area at 11:30pm. A chase and counter-chase took place during the melee.At one stage, Korban’s supporters opened fire at the men of Nasir, leaving Goher Uddin,42, son of Pashan Uddin Mandol, a resident of Khayerbagan village, dead on the spot and 12 others injured. On information, police rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control.
